Darab Diba is an architect, designer, and theoretician trained at the University of Geneva and the Royal Academy of Belgium (M.Arch, PhD). He has been affiliated at many universities, both in Iran and abroad, including Tehran University where he was the PhD director, A.I. University, MIT/Harvard, Paris Belleville and Lausanne EPFL. He worked as an expert for UNDP, the UN and AKAA for the analysis and improvement of the human environment.
In his private practice he was an active designer with numerous projects and winning competitions. In 1996 he launched Hasht Behesht Office, becoming later in ATEC Consultants (2000-2013) chief of the board of design in charge of numerous national projects. In 2013 he founded, with high skilled dedicated partners, DYBAN International with a focus on interdisciplinary issues and a design production aimed towards new progressive expressions in Iranian contemporary architecture.
Editor of Architecture/Urbanism, author of many articles and referential books, he is also a member of several national and international editorial committees, jury members, and numerous professional councils. With many prizes and recognitions on his behalf, he was awarded President Khatami special national prize of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, as well as being the recipient of the special award of UN Habitat in 2010.
